NBCUniversal Names Christopher Halpin as Chief Financial Officer
Halpin joins the company’s leadership team as NBCUniversal prepares to become an independent publicly traded media and entertainment company
NEW YORK, NY – July 30, 2026 – NBCUniversal today announced that Christopher Halpin has been named Chief Financial Officer, effective September 8, 2026. Halpin will oversee NBCUniversal’s global finance and strategy organizations, reporting to Mike Cavanagh, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Comcast Corporation and future Chief Executive Officer of NBCUniversal.
Halpin joins NBCUniversal from People Incorporated (formerly known as IAC), where he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. During his tenure, he oversaw the company's corporate finance, accounting, M&A, investor relations and administration functions while also leading strategy and the day-to-day function and execution of People Incorporated’s businesses.
“As NBCUniversal prepares to enter its next chapter as an independent public company, we’re thrilled to welcome Chris as our Chief Financial Officer,” said Mike Cavanagh, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Comcast Corporation. “Chris has spent his career helping build and grow leading businesses across sports, media and entertainment—the areas that will drive NBCUniversal’s growth in the years ahead. He brings deep industry experience, outstanding judgment and a collaborative approach that make him a trusted partner. I can’t think of a better person to join our leadership team as we build on our strong foundation and shape NBCUniversal’s future.”
“I am honored to join NBCUniversal at this exciting time,” said Christopher Halpin. “NBCUniversal’s portfolio of iconic brands, leading media assets and creative talent is unmatched in the industry. I am excited to work alongside Brian, Mike and the leadership team to help advance the company’s strategic priorities and position NBCUniversal for success as a standalone media and entertainment company.”
Randy Culbertson, current Chief Financial Officer of NBCUniversal, will remain a key part of NBCUniversal’s leadership team and will transition to a new role, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Randy has been an invaluable partner and a tremendous leader for NBCUniversal,” said Mike Cavanagh. “Few people know this company as well as Randy, and I’m excited that he will continue to play a key role on my leadership team. His experience, perspective and deep understanding of NBCUniversal will be instrumental as we build on our momentum and seize the opportunities ahead.”
Prior to People Incorporated, Halpin spent nearly a decade in senior leadership roles at the National Football League, most recently serving as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer. In that role, he oversaw all strategic growth and development opportunities, including the NFL's business planning, digital and sports betting strategies, data and analytics and its expansion internationally. Before joining the NFL, Halpin was a Partner and Managing Director at Providence Equity Partners, where he led transactions across the firm’s media, entertainment and technology investments. Halpin began his career in the Merchant Banking Department of Goldman Sachs & Co. He holds a degree in Economics from Princeton University.
Upon completion of the spin-off from Comcast Corporation, NBCUniversal will be an independent publicly traded global media and entertainment company, anchored by its growing theme parks division, Universal film and television studios, NBC and Telemundo networks, Peacock and Bravo. In addition, NBCUniversal’s global portfolio will include Sky, Comcast’s European media business. Together, these businesses will be powered by a portfolio of world-class intellectual property, a deep content library, extraordinary content creation capabilities and exceptional strength across sports, news and entertainment. With iconic brands, valuable intellectual property, global distribution and leading creative talent, NBCUniversal will be strongly positioned to compete and grow in an evolving media landscape.
